Drawing with Graphite and Colored Pencils
Starting with basic graphite drawing techniques, you will learn about shadow, shape and value. Both right and left hand usage and blended graphite work will be explored. Colored pencil studies will investigate color values, technique and color families. We will use both mediums to work from still life and your own photographs. Repeat students welcome! The Color Wheel: Oil or Acrylic
Color serves different purposes when creating artwork. By understanding and knowing the color wheel, you will be able to choose the right mood and overall feeling in your paintings. This class will explore primary, secondary, tertiary, complimentary, split-complimentary and analogous colors. Introduction to Oil Painting
If you ever wanted to learn about oil painting, this class is for you. We will discuss the brushes, paints, painting mediums, palettes, supports and other important basics. There will be demonstrations of various techniques such as dry brush, painting on a torred ground, all prima painting, working with painting knives and glazing with an overview of color basics (value, hue, saturation and temperature) and elements of composition. Landscape Watercolor (Beginning)
This class will introduce the basics of watercolors and watercolor washes. You will learn about watercolor papers, transparent and opaque colors and how to work with various paint brushes.
