PVCC Online Continuing Education provides professional or special interest courses for students desiring to learn from the comfort of their home or office. Participants may acquire new academic or occupational knowledge and specialized skills. Each participant must have access to the Internet and an email address to access online courses. Going Green Going Green may be the next wave of the future. Instead of blue collar and white collar jobs, there will be green collar jobs. Learn how to reduce waste and pollution, and benefit the environment while helping to put America on the path to a cleaner, more energy efficient future. Many of these career online classes are available starting/ending on specific dates and some classes are available starting anytime.
Education to Go
Learn new computer skills, supervisory skills or explore new areas of interest, such as starting a home based business or grant writing. These user-friendly and highly informative classes begin monthly and run for six weeks.
Career Step
Develop a lucrative, portable career! Introducing online classes from Career Step, one of the nation’s leading providers of Medical Coding & Billing and Medical Transcription online training. Career Step courses meet the requirements for preparing for the certification exams administered by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). AHDI, formerly the American Association for Medical Transcription, is the world’s largest professional society representing the clinical documentation sector whose purpose is to set and uphold standards for education and practice in the field of health data capture and documentation. AHIMA is the premier association of health information management (HIM) professionals.

Medical Transcription
Develop the knowledge and skills of a quality medical transcriptionist while preparing to sit for the Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) exam administered by AHDI. Specifically, this program focuses on keyboarding, language and grammar, medical terminology, and emphasizes practical experience. By course completion, students will have transcribed hundreds of authentic dictations while preparing for a quick and successful transition to the workplace. The program’s unique online platform helps students develop employer-valued time management skills by providing them access to all program materials and many interactive learning tools whenever it is convenient for them, allowing them the freedom and flexibility to study on their own schedules and at their own pace. Four month extenstions are available for $150.

Inpatient and Outpatient Medical Coding and Billing
This program helps students prepare for rewarding careers in medical coding, with opportunities in inpatient and outpatient coding after graduation. It also prepares students to sit for the CCA, CCS and CCS-P certification exams administered by AHIMA. Students focus on medical terminology, coding standards, and specific inpatient and outpatient code sets. A significant portion of students’ experiences will also be spent training on 3M encoding software, used by many industry employers, thus preparing students for a successful transition to the workplace. The program’s unique online platform provides students access to program materials and interactive learning tools whenever it is most convenient for the student, allowing them to study on their own schedules and at their own pace. Four month extenstions are available for $150.
