INTRODUCTION TO ASIAN BRUSH PAINTING

 

MATERIALS

3  water containers 

(ie. 32 oz. yogurt, cottage cheese containers or other similar)

 

1  absorbent rag 

(ie.  100% cotton preferable, approximately dishtowel size, preferably light in color)

 

4  paperweights 

(ie.  flat pebbles {or other} approximately the size of  half dollar coins)

 

1   small bowl or cup/mug

(ie. large enough to hold about ½ cup of water.  Stoneware, porcelain etc. preferable to plastic.) (World Market Cost Plus, Pier One, Thrift Stores, etc.)

1  small flat dish 

(ie.  3-4” round, or other shape similar size surface area.  White or light in color, no pattern.  Stoneware, porcelain etc. preferable to plastic.) (World Market Cost Plus, Pier One, Thrift Stores, most Asian markets, etc.)

50  sheets (min.) 12”x18”  newsprint  

(@ 30lb. weight {ie. able to see through to lines on layer below}, recycled or unrecycled content acceptable, smooth or rough acceptable)  note:  12x18 pads can be difficult to find.  Easy, less expensive alternative:  purchase 24x36 pad and cut in half.)

 

Tote bag or other to transport supplied brush painting kit.
