What is placement testing for?
Placement testing helps evaluate where a student falls academically in each of three categories: English, Reading, and Math. All DEGREE SEEKING students are required to take these tests so that upon course placement an Academic Advisor is able to enroll the student in the appropriate level courses.
How many placement tests am I required to take?
There are three placement tests:
- Writeplacer (English)
- Reading Comprehension
*If you are a transfer student placement tests are required unless an official transcript can prove pre-requisites have been met.
How long are the placement tests?
The length of the placement test depends on the tester. Allow at least 2.5-3 hours to complete all three tests. There is no time limit on the placement tests.
When do placement tests expire?
Placement tests expire after two years. The only exception is if a student has tested "Exempt" in the Reading Comprehension test. If a student has tested exempt on the Reading Comprehension test, their score for that test never expires.
What do I need to bring for my placement test?
On the test day, you will need to bring an acceptable form of PHOTO ID and your COLLEGE ID# that starts with 3XXXXXXX.
Acceptable forms of PHOTO ID include:
- AZ Permit
- High School ID
- AZ Drivers License
What is the cost of the placement test?
There is no cost to take the placement test.
Do I need to make a reservation to take a placement test?
No, it is not necessary to make a reservation for the placement tests. Please look at our testing hours for further information.
