Plus Health and Wellness Programs to Neighborhood

Paradise Valley Community College at Black Mountain is a key partner in the Black Mountain Campus, a multi-generational facility providing lifelong learning opportunities, community services plus health and wellness programs. A partnership among PVCC, the Foothills YMCA and the FCF (Foothills Community Foundation), the center is designed as a neighborhood-gathering place for people of all ages to exercise both their minds and bodies. It is located at the foot of iconic Black Mountain at 60th Street, just south of Carefree Highway.

PVCC and its partners share a vision of bringing together the surrounding Northeast Valley communities of Carefree, Cave Creek, Phoenix and Scottsdale by providing education options, meeting spaces and recreation facilities in one central location.

PVCC at Black Mountain, a Maricopa Community College, puts higher education within reach of the Valley’s north central and northeast communities with both credit and non-credit classes. The diverse courses offer something for everyone including the traditional student pursing an undergraduate degree, adults returning to college for career or personal enrichment and high school students seeking to earn college credits. From art and music to math, philosophy and business, PVCC provides opportunities to enhance knowledge, expand creativity and enjoy life.

The college includes six classrooms equipped with the latest technology for academic instruction plus personal and advanced computer facilities. Adjoining PVCC is the 9,000-square-foot FCF-Holland Community Center, which includes headquarters for the foundation, a cafe and meeting spaces for nonprofit community groups and partners.

The brand new, state-of-the-art Foothills YMCA is opening this fall.  This facility is testimony to the YMCA’s commitment to this area and will become a hallmark in the Desert Foothills and the Black Mountain community - offering quality health and fitness opportunities, swimming, climbing and sports venues plus endless programs for kids, teens, adults and Boomers.  In the rich tradition of the YMCA, this center will be a place where confidence is born, dreams are discovered and a community comes together.
