January 26 , 2009  “Is the Justice System Working?”

On July 1, 2009, Rebecca White Berch began a five-year term as the Arizona’s Chief Justice.   Justice Berch earned an M.A. from Arizona State University (1990), her J.D. from Arizona State University College of Law (1979) and her B.S. from Arizona State University (1976).  After a successful career in private practice, she served as Director of the Legal Writing Program, at ASU.   She then served as Solicitor General for the State of Arizona, from 1991-1994, as Special Counsel to the Arizona Attorney General from 1995-1996 and as First Assistant Arizona Attorney General from 1996-1998.  Justice Berch joined the bench as a Judge on the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division I, in April 1998.

March 9, 2010  “Riding the Roller Coaster: Government Revenue in Arizona”, by Tara Jackson

Tara Jackson is President of Arizona Town Hall, an independent, nonprofit membership organization that identifies critical issues facing Arizona, creates the forum for education and exploration of the topic and fosters leadership development.  By drawing upon Arizona's diversity of citizens, the Town Hall process promotes public consideration of these issues, builds consensus and supports implementation of the resulting recommendations.

Prior to the Town Hall, Ms. Jackson practiced law in the area of employment and commercial litigation for over fifteen years.  In addition to her law practice, Ms. Jackson taught as an Adjunct Professor for ASU's Law School and has served in numerous positions for both state and federal bar associations.  Ms. Jackson has been a "Big Sister" for Valley Big Brothers/ Big Sisters and a mentor and family sponsor for Homeward Bound.  She has also assumed various leadership roles for Soroptimist International of Phoenix, including President in 2002-2003.
