Jacalyn (“Jackie”) Askin joined Paradise Valley Community College in June 2008 as its Vice President of Administrative Services.

Jackie received her doctorate in higher education finance and administration from the University of Arizona. Her dissertation examined “Community College Funding: Environmental and Institutional Influences” and been published in the Community College Journal of Research and Practice. She has a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in industrial management from Georgia Tech. Her undergraduate degrees are in English and psychology from Lehigh University.

Prior to joining PVCC, Jackie served as Assistant Dean for Finance and Business Support Services for ASU’s College of Nursing. She has previously served as interim Director of Continuing Education at the University of Arizona and as Assistant Vice Chancellor of Financial Operations at Pima Community College in Tucson.

In 2003, Jackie received the “Rising Star” Award from the National Association of College and University Business Officials (NACUBO). In 2001, she was awarded the Financial Executive of the Year Award from the Association of Management Accountants. Askin continues to be active in both NACUBO and its regional association, WACUBO. She also serves as a peer consultant evaluator for North Central Accreditation Association and as a review panel member for the Government Finance Officers’ Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program.
